Weekly Family Update 2/1/21

Hello, and Happy February! I hope you were able to enjoy the snow a little this weekend. We are SO excited to welcome ALL our in person learners back this week! Having our kids back in the buildings makes all the difference in the world.

Updates!

Logistics and Safety

Please also check out the Hybrid Fast Facts document, linked here, for reminders for all families.

And...remember the 4 Keys:

Meals and Materials

Materials Pick-Ups Procedures--effective now!

Lotus:

Materials are reorganized A-Z, not by bus since routes are not a factor at this point.
We will only put into the weekend bins the materials for families that call and request.
Everything else stays inside for pick up at Grab and Go.
Materials not picked up from the weekend go to Grab and Go and can be picked up there when families come through for meals.

Stanton:
Materials are organized A-Z, not by bus since routes are not a factor at this point.
Materials not picked up are put A-Z in the weekend pick up bins.

Materials not picked up over the weekend go to a table by the front door and are spread out alphabetically on the table when families come into the office to pick up supplies.

School Pictures

More info coming soon!!! It looks like we will find a way to have pictures, rain or shine, in March!

Valentine's Day at Lotus

In the anticipation of Valentines Day and celebrating the tradition of passing cards at school we ask that you partner with us to balance the celebration with safety.

We would ask that if you would like to participate:

  • Families have Valentines at school by Feb 9th to ensure that we have enough time to let the cards safely be contained at school.a

  • On Feb. 11th the cards will then be distributed by a staff member wearing gloves to students participating in a bag to take home. (Reminder no school for students on Feb.12th-Institute Day)

  • No food or candy may be passed out. This is for everyone's safety.

  • Students in remote (virtual) classrooms will have direction from their remote teacher on how Valentine’s Day celebrations will take place.

Please feel free to reach out to Lotus administration if there any concerns or questions.

Upcoming Key Dates:

TOMORROW, Tuesday, 2/2--1, 2, 4, 6, and 7 launch Hybrid plan

Friday, 2/12--Institute Day

Weekly Family Update 1/25/21

We had an amazing first week of having even more kids onsite. It was WONDERFUL!!!!

Updates!

Logistics and Safety

Please also check out the Hybrid Fast Facts document, linked here, for reminders for all families.

And...remember the 4 Keys:

Meals and Materials

Our meals/materials plans will work as follows:

*Both kitchens open for Grab and Go and for meal service for in person learners.
*Grab and Go open at Stanton 6-7:30 and Lotus 8-10 daily.
*Materials pick up using Grab and Go takes place on Fridays at each site. Lotus materials picked up at Lotus, Stanton materials picked up at Stanton.
*Materials not picked up go in weekend boxes at each site.
*Materials not picked up over the weekend brought to each office for pick up.

What if the Weather Gets Nasty? This could matter this week!!!

*Given the fact that we will still have students learning remotely with the Hybrid plan and we have certainly proven our capacity for remote learning, should the weather get nasty, we will ALL shift to remote learning as our emergency/inclement weather plan for this winter. If we shift to full remote due to weather, we will NOT have Grab and Go open.

This is only in place until 1) we are able to have all students back on site and 2) until we formally submit Remote Learning Plan specific to inclement weather in "normal" attendance conditions. As soon as the decision is made to call a weather-related full remote day, I'll notify everyone via email/phone call and will also post on the website. Given this, I'd encourage everyone to watch the weather and leave each day--especially if the weather seems to be getting nasty--ready to work remotely the next day.

Happy Monday, D114 families!!!

Confirming Plans

I'm thrilled to report that ALL requests to return in-person and for bus transportation can be safely met! Hurrah!!!! On Tuesday, we will mail out bus routes for all in-person students who need a bus. Please review these, and call the school office with any questions. Families who will return in-person and don't need a bus AND families who have chosen to stay remote--you will NOT receive a letter--YOU ARE ALL SET TO GO! :)

On Friday, the LCHD changed the dashboard indicators as follows:

Put simply, the LCHD school dashboard will be changing to NOT include school opening status but will shift to match our metrics to CDC's risk levels--this makes MUCH more sense, as we are charged to focus on the metrics AND mitigation to make sure we decrease risk in light of the metrics.
