Weekly Family Update 2/28/22

Hi! I hope it was a wonderful weekend!

As I emailed yesterday, please note that masks are now optional on our school buses/vans! Students/staff can certainly continue to wear a mask if they choose, and all choices will be respected.

We do have a bus driver out on Monday, so changes to the affected routes have been emailed to you if the change impacts your child's route. I'm so sorry for this inconvenience!!!

2022-23 Calendar

We'll be bringing forward a calendar proposal for the 2022-23 school year at the March 15 Board of Education meeting. As always, our major holidays will align with Grant High School's.

Kindergarten Roundup for 22-23! PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO!!!!

5Essentials

Annually, the State of Illinois asks school districts to administer the 5Essentials Survey to gather feedback from students, parents, and staff. This feedback helps guide the district in future planning. Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:

  • Effective Leaders
  • Collaborative Teachers
  • Involved Families
  • Supportive Environments
  • Ambitious Instruction

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey for students and teachers will be conducted now through March 11, 2022. The Parent Survey Supplement will be conducted during that same timeframe.

To take the survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin.

NO STANTON MAKE UP DAY

Thank you again, Stanton families, for your flexibility last Monday when the water was out. I'm happy to report that we do NOT have to make up that time, as it is considered an instructional interruption and, since Lotus stayed in session all day, we are not required to make up the time for Stanton.
