D114 Day of Service--PRINCIPAL CHALLENGE!!!

Thank you to everyone who pledged money to support this year's Day of Service fundraiser! We managed to raise nearly $16,000!

However, we missed our goal by about $4,000, so Mr. Peters and Mr. Sefcik have agreed to put on a 10-Day Principal's Challenge to see if we can meet or exceed our goal!!

Starting today through Friday, May 9th (10 school days), we'll be asking for additional donations. These can be sent to school in cash or check or donations can be made online here

What Would Dolly Do?

She'd sign up for IMAGINATION LIBRARY!!!!

This is a FREE program that puts a book in the mailbox for any and all kids signed up from age birth (or whenever they get signed up) until they turn 5. Do that math---it's up to 60 books!!!!

ALL LAKE AND MCHENRY COUNTY ZIP CODES ARE ELIGIBLE!!!! So, please sign up, share with friends, and get the info out there.

How?

Go to this link.

Give the info, and you'll be set.

They will NEVER sell or release this information.

We are a targeted district to launch this for Lake County, so I’m excited to launch with a BANG!!!

D114 Weekly Family Updates 4/21/25

D114 Day of Service--THIS TUESDAY!

We have changed the calendar to make this day (this Tuesday) an Early Release Day. Once the kids and staff do their day of service projects, they are usually tired and ready to call it a day.  Moving forward, the Day of Service will be scheduled on a Wednesday so it's a naturally occurring Early Release.

Good morning, District 114!

Tomorrow is The Day of Service fundraiser! Online pledges can still be made here :)

Here are the projects the different grade levels will be working on:
  • Kindergarten: Planting flowers in the PreK/Kinder playground
  • 1st Grade: Decorate bird feeders with Leisure Village residents
  • 2nd Grade: Making goody bags and writing letters to firefighters and police officers
  • 3rd Grade: Creating flower pots for community members
  • 4th Grade: Creating suncatchers for retirement communities
  • 5th Grade: Making dog treats, dog toys, and care packages for a local dog shelter
  • 6th-7th Grades: Service projects in the community (community garden clean-up, planting flowers, cleaning up garbage, etc)
So far, we've raised a little over $14,000. Our goal is to raise $20,000! Let's see how close we can get!!! If every child were to raise at least $40 we would beat our goal!!

A portion of the funds earned will be going to a fund to build a new playground at Lotus.
