I hope you are enjoying the long weekend---remember, schools are closed on Monday for Casimir Pulaski Day. Since we didn't need to take an emergency days so far this year, Monday becomes a day off. ENJOY!
As I emailed last wee, please note that masks are now optional on our school buses/vans! Students/staff can certainly continue to wear a mask if they choose while on the bus/van or in our buildings, and all choices will be respected.

2022-23 Calendar
We'll be bringing forward a calendar proposal for the 2022-23 school year at the March 15 Board of Education meeting. As always, our major holidays will align with Grant High School's.
Vaccination Clinic
We have coordinated a FREE COVID-19 vaccination/booster clinic for persons 5 years of age and older. This clinic will be held at Gavin Central Elementary School in Ingleside, IL on the following date:
Friday, March 11, 2022 from 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm
You may register by clicking on this link. Any appointments that can be scheduled in advance will help to cut down on wait times during the clinic event since all attendees must be registered in the clinic system to receive their vaccination.
Registrations will also be accepted on site but can greatly increase wait times.
Please Note: The vendor providing vaccinations for this event highly recommends parents to be present and consent forms signed.

5Essentials
Annually, the State of Illinois asks school districts to administer the 5Essentials Survey to gather feedback from students, parents, and staff. This feedback helps guide the district in future planning. Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:
- Effective Leaders
- Collaborative Teachers
- Involved Families
- Supportive Environments
- Ambitious Instruction
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey for students and teachers will be conducted now through March 11, 2022. The Parent Survey Supplement will be conducted during that same timeframe.
To take the survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin.
