Sept 21, 2020 Family Update

 Pictures and Yearbooks

We WILL have student pictures and yearbooks this year...no matter what! We are planning for student pictures for January, making plans for yearbooks, and planning for 8th grade promotions pictures.

We're still working on Lotus dates, but here are dates for Stanton:

Grade 5th-7th:  January 7, 2021

Retakes: January 29, 2021

Graduation Pictures: February 9, 2021

Retakes: February 23, 2021

Heading Closer to the 9/30 Update

Wanted to share some key pieces related to the update we've promised for 9/30:

*A small group of superintendents has partnered on a local "dashboard" to show the status for re-opening specifically based on our own zip codes. The intent is to use this as a weekly tool to show how COVID data aligns with our position. Here's what the data indicated for D114 zip codes using Friday's data--the health department updates each Friday:

Using the parameters of this data for our zip codes, we are clear to proceed with Hybrid planning!

*We WILL NOT launch the full hybrid model as our first step. Rather, we will strategically add a little a time to make sure we can sustain. This will likely look like a grade or two at a time, along with other priority groups (example: EL/bilingual, IEP).

*There will be at least 2 weeks between announcing/setting a date for return and the actual return of students. This allows us all time to survey parents to determine who still wants remote, determine who from the onsite preference list we can safely host, plan for instruction, and get ready for the change. This means that any add recommended on 9/30 would actually start on 10/19 to launch with a full 5 day week schedule.

*Based on setting up classrooms, we will be able to have 10-12 students per classroom at a time, keeping social distancing guidelines in place. This also allows for a teacher desk and  teaching "station" so teachers have room to safely access panels/boards for instruction.

Again--all this depends on the data continuing to trend positively and the logistics working in our favor. The goal remains getting our kids back on site for learning, with a continued focus on balancing safety and learning. Your questions, suggestions, and feedback are welcome. This impacts us all, so there's no time ever that it's been more important to remain ONE TEAM...ALL IN.

MAP Testing

Please see below for details on MAP testing. Testing has been very, very challenging due to technology challenges, so THANK YOU for your patience. A HUGE thank you to our amazing students for working so hard and being so flexible.

Just a reminder that there are 3 ways to get meals and 3 ways to get student materials:

MEALS:

1. Daily bus runs

2. Grab and Go at Lotus daily 8:00-10:00AM (9:00-10:00 on Fridays)

3. Early Bird Meal grab at BOTH SITES daily 6:15-6:45AM

MATERIALS:

1. Friday bus runs

2. Pick up at Lotus Grab and Go Friday between 9:00-10:00AM or Monday-Thursday from 8:00-10:00AM

3. Weekend pick up from totes located outside the Lotus Main Entrance (under camera surveillance for safety) anytime from Friday at 3:00PM-Monday at 7:00AM! You must call the Lotus office (847-973-4100) to request that materials be put in the weekend pick up tote. You can make this a PERMANENT ARRANGEMENT or you can call by 2:00PM Friday so we make sure your materials for that week are put in the tote. Both school's materials will be picked up from Lotus.

*Note--We will NOT HAVE bus runs, Early Bird, or Grab and Go when school is closed for a day off or holiday.

We hope this all helps as we continue this Remote Learning journey together!

Meal Assistance

Activity Fees

We're going to do our very best to offer as many activities this year as possible, knowing that we'll

need to be very creative to do so! At it's August meeting, the Board of Education approved us offering

all activities with NO FEES this year. We just want our kids involved, so there will be no fees at all this year!

Attendance

If your child will be absent (meaning unable to do remote learning due to illness or another family reason, we need you to call them in as absent just as you normally would.
