I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know we are all grateful for our D114 students and families!!!
Just in case you didn't get a chance to read it, please see below for the Community Update sent out on Tuesday 11/24. As stated, I'll keep you updated daily on the data and provide information about plans for after Winter Break just as soon as I can but certainly on or before Wednesday, December 16.
November 24, 2020
To Our Shared Communities,
Gavin School District 37, Big Hollow School District 38, Lake Villa School District 41, Fox Lake Grade School District 114, and Grant Community High School District 124 have been in close contact throughout the Adaptive Pause, as recommended by the Lake County Health Department. With a shared goal to have students return to in-person learning as soon as it is safe to do so, we have agreed to monitor health metrics and make decisions regarding our learning mode every two weeks.
At this time, we have collectively determined that it will not be possible to resume in-person learning on November 30th. Each district maintains a COVID-19 data dashboard providing local health metrics that have guided our decision making.
Additionally, with only three weeks prior to winter break, we have made the difficult decision that students will not return to in-person learning before break. Districts will provide their communities an update prior to beginning winter break as to our learning plans for January 4th and beyond.
We continue to appreciate your patience, flexibility and support as we navigate these difficult times together. We wishing you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Julie A. Brua, Ed.D. Superintendent Gavin School District 37
Bob Gold, Superintendent, Big Hollow School District 38
Lynette Zimmer, Superintendent, Lake Villa School District 41
Heather Friziellie, Ed.S. Superintendent Fox Lake School District 114
Christine A. Sefcik, Ed.D. Superintendent Grant Community High School District 124

Breakfast with Santa: Drive-Thru Edition
Saturday, December 12th, 2020,
9:30 am-11 am
Welcome to our FIRST ever Drive-Thru Edition of Santa’s Breakfast. We want to spread joy this holiday season all while keeping safe and distant from the comfort of your vehicle. Families will drive thru the Lotus parking lot (follow designated traffic route), pick up bagged breakfast and craft goodies at the event entrance, check out some great holiday decorations, and follow up to the roundabout to wave to Santa and drop off pre-written letters.
Don't forget to wear your best holiday attire along with your Mask.
*Please no congregating or getting out of vehicles!*
Health Department Update--11/29/20
Note: Due to delays with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reporting system, incidence rate is up to date through November 23. Diagnostic testing turnaround time and positivity rate are up to date through November 10.
We know that our dashboards are an important tool for decision making and many within the community rely on this data. We are working with the IDPH to provide you up-to-date information.
Our Data Hub will not be updated November 26-27 as our staff observe the Thanksgiving holiday. Updates will resume on Monday, November 30.
