Thank you so much for your flexibility and understanding about Friday's need to close schools. As I've sent out, we always take the first "snow/cold day" as a closure, and we then change our calendar to be in session on Casimir Pulaski day (3/2/26). Moving forward, we'll do everything we can to use remote learning for any closure days so that we do not have to extend the school year.
When we ARE in session, we always trust you to make the best decisions for your children and family. If you feel the weather is unsafe for attendance even if we are open, please call to let us know and we will treat the absences as EXCUSED.
Absences
While we ALWAYS want our students at school, please be sure to review our Illness Guidelines (linked here).
Please see the updated flu guidance from the Lake County Health Department attached to this week's Family Update email!
Just a reminder that--if a student is absent from school for ANY reason--they are NOT permitted to attend any after school events. If they can't come to school, they should not attend after school events.
Students should absolutely stay home if they are sick, but we want them back with us as soon as possible!
We have updated our procedures when students are frequently absent. It's our goal to support students and families in getting to school EACH DAY!
Why does this matter?
Here's what our support will look like...
Referral GPS--Reminder!
We are committed to creating a culture of well-being of students, staff,
parents, and community. In an effort to continuously support this
commitment, the district has entered an agreement with ReferalGPS.
ReferralGPS is a web-based service focused on assisting our students,
staff, and community in finding local mental-health and substance use
related treatment. The service compliments the districts existing
systems of support as a tool for student service teams and families to
connect with treatment. Along with a searchable database of treatment
options, ReferalGPS provides Care Navigation to assist families in
triage, appointment setting, and follow up care.
School families may access ReferalGPS in two ways:
1) Contact Student Services (social workers, psychologists,
counselors) to seek out treatment options.
2) Visit this link at https://referralgps.com/find-help/D114 to
search for treatment resources or connect with a Care
Navigator anonymously.
ReferalGPS takes into account all types of private and public insurance
including PPO, HMO, Medicaid, Medicare, and families who are
uninsured or underinsured. The platform also filters by age, gender, zip
code, and special requests.
ReferalGPS is available for use by district students, staff, and families at
no cost. All information entered on the ReferalGPS tool is completely
confidential and securely stored.
If you are interested in seeking counseling-related services at this time,
please consider visiting https://referralgps.com/find-help/D114 or
reaching out to the Student Services team.
