UPDATES ON REOPENING PLANS

Thank you to the 227 people who have already responded to the Fall Options survey! WE NEED YOUR INPUT in order to make the plan to present for approval at the July 14 Board of Education meeting. Once the plan is approved, we will then ask you to commit to one of the options for your child(ren) so we can work to finalize schedules, class lists, and details.

The survey will close tomorrow, Tuesday, July 7 at NOON!
PLEASE NOTE: When considering the options, we WILL follow CDC/ISBE safety guidelines, including the required use of masks while inside, whether we are full in-person or in a hybrid/blended model. If this information makes you change your survey response, you are able to do so. THANK YOU!
I know you are all anxious to know more about the specifics of our District plans for the Fall.
As an important part of that process, we need to get an initial sense of preference from our families regarding the possible school opening options:
  • Full in-person learning with adaptations (masks required, masks breaks during the day, self-health assessment, temperature checks, social distancing as possible).
  • Full enhanced remote learning (more time each day than Spring 2020, access to all courses).
  • Blended opening with alternating in-person and enhanced remote learning instruction. Students split into two groups with each group participating in two days of in-person instruction and two days of enhanced remote learning. This would split the student body in half and allow for greater social distancing. CDC/ISBE guidelines will remain in place regarding wearing masks. Family groupings would be consistent across D114 as well as with Grant High School so students from the same household would be in school/remote learning at the same time to try to help families plan for their time and for childcare/scheduling needs. A sample schedule might look like:
Your input will be advisory and will truly help inform our planning and decision-making.
Please know that all three school opening options are subject to our ability to staff and schedule them successfully with all safety guidelines in place for students AND staff.
It is important to note that we strongly encourage all families to develop a plan for childcare should there be a change in Illinois, a rise in COVID infection, and/or an outbreak that would require group(s), school(s), or the entire district move into full remote learning for a period of time.
Again, more to come as soon as I have facts to share. As a parent of school-aged kids myself, I totally understand how stressful this is and how not having a plan makes it worse. We will communicate as soon as we can---I promise!
Please click here to complete the family survey. We need one response per family.
