Today's Updates

Remote Learning

WOW! I got the chance to see some student work yesterday and IT BLEW MY MIND!!! From videos to essays written by student teams...the kids are working so hard! THANK YOU for working with us to make this happen. I'm so grateful to our students, families, and staff for keeping learning and connections going!!!!

I know there are LOTS of questions about when we will be able to do things like:
Clean out lockers,
Do Kindergarten roundup,
Do Preschool screenings,
Have 8th grade graduation and dance,
Know the details about summer school,
And LOTS more.

The thing to remember is that we are still under a "stay at home" order by Governor Pritzker. This directive says we are only to be out and about to do essential functions. In D114, we are considering these to be:
Meals at Grab and Go,
Preparing and distributing Chromebooks,
Putting together Choice Menus,
and
Checking in on and cleaning the buildings.

Until the "stay at home" order is lifted, we have to be super careful about what activities we put on and who we ask to come out from their homes. I know it's SO HARD, but it's for the safety of the greater good. We are working on creative ways to do all these things that are still safe. They WILL happen---just not sure how YET. But we will figure it out! :)

With that said, and knowing the we are not coming back together face to face for the rest of the year, we'd like to know how our families are doing.

I'd sure appreciate it if you'd take just a few minutes to complete this survey by Wednesday, April 29. I'll post it every day to remind you, and the purpose is for us to be better able to support our families during the extended closure. Thanks in advance for giving your 2 cents! 🙂

This Week's Spirit Week

Here are this week's Spirit Days!!!!
Earth Day Shares...

The Earth now versus what it will look like if we don't take care of it.

It's TWIN THURSDAY! It's fun to dress like a friend and take pictures to send each other...we can be together apart!
Thanks to Mrs. Lorenz at Lotus for putting this together.

Next week, our spirit weeks will roll into an ABC Countdown!!!

Ongoing Updates
GRAB AND GO
We are now doing Grab and Go on Monday and Thursday mornings ONLY from 7:30-10:00 at Stanton. You can grab "3 for Me" and everything else you need but we also limit how many staff members need to come in and how often we are asking families to come to school. You can still get Chromebooks, school supplies, books, and more. Social distancing is KEY to us getting back to normal!

It is our goal that EVERY student have access to a device and the Internet so they can engage in learning. We know it's hard if there's only one device in your home, so if you need to borrow so everyone can work, please come by Grab and Go on Mondays or Thursdays--we'll have Chromebooks to loan!

IF YOUR CHILD NEEDS A BOOK TO READ...

Mackin is an online free library of books and ebooks, and we have these books until the end of the year!
